Wolverhampton based Charity ‘Access to Business’ has been awarded ‘The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service’, the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK, the equivalent of an MBE for Volunteer Groups.
Access to Business Chief Executive Josie Kelly said “We are absolutely honoured and delighted to have received our ‘Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service’. For over 15 years we have been providing services for unemployed and disabled people in our City to improve their skills, confidence and support their route to employment. Volunteers play a vitally important role in supporting our work and include our volunteer Board of Directors and many local volunteers supporting and promoting our work helping others to improve their lives.”
In honour of the award Josie and colleague Simon Moore were invited to, and attended, The Queen’s Garden Party on 16th May joining over 7000 other guests. In attendance was The Queen, Prince Phillip, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate), The Princess Royal (Princess Anne), Prince Edward and Princess Eugenie. Josie said “We had an absolutely amazing day at the Garden Party and it was wonderful seeing members of the Royal Family and sharing in the celebrations of all who attended”.
Access to Business will now be permitted to use the Queens Award logo on all of their stationary and marketing materials.
